Inspired by the mythology of the ancient Mediterranean, the cameo features a woman's profile haloed with grape vines that invokes the legends of the Maenads and their drunken devotion to the god of wine Dionysus. The silver cameo is suspended from an adjustable sterling silver chain that secures with a sterling silver lobster clasp and can be worn at 16, 18, or 20 inches.
Cameos, known for their ornamental allure throughout history, reached their pinnacle in popularity during the Victorian era, with Queen Victoria herself adorning them routinely. ~The star ingredient behind my jewelry line is silver metal clay. This unique material blend combines recycled silver particles seamlessly bound by an organic plant-based binder, and hydrated to form a workable clay. I use this metal clay, much like regular ceramics, to craft my pieces from this raw material. The fragile dry pieces are then kiln fired to transform them into solid sterling silver jewelry that is polished and finished with care~
